China

by Kevin Burton

China is mystery, China is unexpected, China is overpowering, but above all, China is a must visit, must see country.

Its vastness and immensity, along with unrivalled beauty, fascinating people, legends and history make this a country that cannot be truly understood until you visit – and even then, you’ll leave having only just brushed the surface of understanding all that China is and has been and is going to be. You will leave wanting to discover more!

I visited Xian & Beijing and was taken to see the Terracotta Warriors, the Great Wall, Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and Tiananmen Square. To see these historic sights for real makes you have that feeling of “am I actually here, am I actually seeing with my own eyes”, so much is the power of China’s history.

As well as the above sites, one cannot visit China without seeing the famous Karst mountain scenery of Guilin, take a cruise on the Yangtze river, the Panda sanctuary at Chengdu, the historic Silk road and China’s economic hub of Shanghai.

China is without doubt best visited when one can allow a minimum of two weeks, anything less does not really allow you time to get to know the country. Definitely a way to maximise your visit to China is to carefully plan a head, making a list of all that is important to you in terms of sightseeing and to then talk to someone, if possible who has been.

I would definitely return to China and I always believe if you leave a country wanting more, then it has ticked all the right boxes, China certainly did this for me.
